Packaging Manager

We have a great opportunity for the right candidate to join the team as Packaging Manager at Big Spruce! You would be joining an award-winning organic craft brewery and leading the Packaging department in our can and keg packaging main facility. You'll be part of a team in Packaging Operatives and play a key role in ensuring quality and efficiency is at the forefront of everything we do.

Reporting to the owner-operator, this is a full-time, hands-on production role where you will oversee the carbonation and packaging of a variety of flagship production beers. You'll work closely with the owner operator and head brewer, as well as the scheduling manager to produce the best quality beer on a consistent basis, whilst leading the team in the development of new processes to improve quality and yield.

Responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day management of the Packaging team
  • Manage daily packaging operations, and ensure consistency with the finished product
  • Develop and implement an extensive maintenance schedule
  • Lead by example in health, safety, and quality standards
  • Coach and mentor all members of the Packaging team, ensuring all processes are followed in conformance with standard operating procedures
  • Perform internal lab analysis in line with our rigorous quality program

Requirements:

Experience within the brewing industry, along with experience operating a bottling and/or canning line.

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Coaching, training, and mentoring capability
  • Excellent problem-solving, reasoning skills, and process adherence

Desirables:

  • Forklift license
  • Using brewing related software such as Breww/Kegshoe

Additional Information:

  • $23-28:/hr, depending on experience

This role is a full-time position based on 36-40hr per week and occasional weekend work may be required.

Taproom & Sprucetique Beertenders (seasonal, part-time or full-time) 

Becoming a part of our taproom and Sprucetique crew is fun, fast-paced, and involves all aspects of the guest experience during a visit to our organic farm brewery. We welcome craft-beer enthusiasts and first-timers alike through our doors -- you will easily guide everyone through and send them on their way with fresh beer in hand and great memories to share. 

- Customer service wizard with excellent communication, organizational & multi-tasking skills

- Energy and ability to work in a very faced-paced environment, on your feet most of the day, both indoors and outside 

- Keen to memorize key knowledge about our year-round beers, and stay on top of getting to know our new releases

- Able to stay calm and problem-solve a guest's needs

- Fantastic team-player who is eager to jump in and help with whatever is required to keep the guest experience smooth and enjoyable

- Duties include: open/close procedures, using a POS system, proper beer serving technique, assisting guests with their beer choices and knowledgeably answering any beer-related questions, keeping the Taproom, Sprucetique and customer washrooms clean, tidy and restocked with beer & swag,
